The Fasig-Tipton October sale's third of four sessions ended Oct. 21 in Lexington with a $290,000 colt by first-crop sire The Factor the session-topper.
Ciaran Dunne, representing Altimira Racing, signed for the session-topping The Factor colt after bidding from the balcony for the Paramount Sales consignee.
"There is a chance he'll go to a 2-year-old sale, but more than likely he'll go straight to the races in California," Dunne said. Of the price, Dunne said: "It was really high. Look, he's a good horse. He's by a stallion everyone seems to be excited about right now; he was a very fast horse. And this is a beautiful-moving colt. He's probably the best-moving colt on the grounds. And they like fast horses, so hopefully he'll be one of them."
The colt is an April 4 foal and is the first for Salvar, a winning Eddington mare. She's a half sister to Clearly Now, a track record-setter and multiple graded winner. The colt last sold as a weanling, bringing $115,000 from Springhouse Farm at the 2014 Keeneland November sale.
By the end of the of the 4 day sale The Factor sold 8 yearlings for an average of $97,000 which is three times more than the average for all the yearlings sold at this years Fasig-Tipton Yearling sale in Lexington
