The Kentucky Derby is a Grade 1 stakes race for three-year-old thoroughbreds, held annually in Louisville, Kentucky on the first Saturday in May. The race is one and a quarter miles at Churchill Downs, and is known as “The Most Exciting 2 Minutes In Sports”. This race is also known as The Run for the Roses, because of the blanket of roses draped over the winning horse. The Kentucky Derby is the first leg of the Triple Crown, it is followed by the Preakness Stakes, then the Belmont Stakes. A horse must win all three races to be crowned a Triple Crown winner.

In this years Derby race we have the pleasure of having 2 of our offsprings as contenders in the 140th annual race. General A Rod by Roman Ruler, out of Dynamite Eyes will have post position 8. Wildcat Red by D’Wildcat, out of Miner’s Mark will have post position 10.
